How do you see yourself as a coach? A listening ear? A sounding board? A thinking partner?
However you see yourself, your coachee is going to have their own lens that they look through in order to see you.
You will have explained our role as a coach at the outset of your coaching, but you probably never pause to ask your coachee how they are viewing you and how they would describe the role you fulfill for them.
Coachees are capable of projecting all kinds of personas onto you as the coach and may have expectations of you because of that. An article that we read recently about those projected roles provided some food for thought, and so we thought we’d explore the notion in this week’s podcast episode.
So listen in as we explore some interesting and occasionally odd ideas about how we might be seen as coaches, as well as the challenges this may present.
