The Doctors’ Coaching Blog
Here we share our thoughts on how doctors can utilise coaching to support those around them, from clients to patients, from mentees to trainees; from patients to colleagues; and from colleagues to family and friends. Well executed coaching skills have the ability to transform any conversation into an opportunity to generate new ideas and, from there, to transform relationships into more balanced and empowering thinking partnerships.
We’ll also share more insights in to our Doctors’ Transformational Coaching Diploma.

Intuition in the coaching room
Many coaches consider themselves to be intuitive coaches. We see it quite a lot in marketing literature and on social media. But what does it really mean in the coaching room? Is it really a phenomenon?
Here at Your Coaching Journey we have had some interesting discussions on the topic of intuition over the years and we don’t always see eye to eye. Tom takes more of a psychological approach to life and coaching and Helen is more at home in the world of spirituality, so there are some differences in the way we approach intuition.
That said, there is some common ground, and in this article, taken as an excerpt from our podcast on the topic, we share our thoughts about intuition, and about being an intuitive coach.
Introduction to Systemic Coaching
We all exist within some kind of system, whether it’s in the workplace, within our social lives, or within a family. In the coaching room there will always be influences and echoes of the coachee’s system as they talk through their situation, their experiences and their desired outcomes.
In Gestalt we talk about the contact boundary, where we meet our environment and where our environment meets us, and there is a constant interplay between the two. One cannot fail to have an impact on the other.
In this article we take a look at systemic coaching, an approach that acknowledges and explores the dynamics of the systems within which the coachee resides.
